Town Councilman Resigns in the Geekiest Way Possible

Well, if the town council are stupid, then give them the resignation in the same format they have given to the town. Complete and utter nonsense.

A North Carolina town councilman recently resigned from his position in the geekiest way possible: He presented the mayor with a letter of resignation written entirely in Klingon, the fictional language from the television show “Star Trek.”

David Waddell drafted his letter of resignation in the fictional “Star Trek” language of Klingon.

David Waddell will be a member of the Indian Trail Town Council until the end of January. He’s resigning because he feels it has failed to live up to his expectations, according to WBTV-TV.

“The past year on the Indian Trail Town Council was filled with more deception, conflict of interest issues, being left in the dark on what’s going on, crony capitalism, runaway development and requests for public information being refused or stonewalled for months,” Waddell said in a statement posted (in English) to his Facebook page.

He specifically noted his frustration over how the council and town manager handled the contract with the sheriff’s office and said such events were too much for him to handle.

So he drafted a letter of resignation — in Klingon — and presented it to the mayor.

Here’s a rough translation of what he wrote, per WBTV: “Teach [the] city [the] constitution I will return next time to [witness] victory. Resignation occurs in 2014 the 31st of January. Perhaps today is a good day (to) resign.”

His Facebook statement added that his time on the council was essentially fruitless.

“There is a much greater need than for me to show up to the meetings and vote no. I believe in standing on the principles I believe in despite being grossly outnumbered,” he wrote. “However, I know the value of time and that it is something only a fool wastes. The greater need is for someone to reach out to the remnant; those who still value the constitutions of our state and nation, those who still believe that God’s laws supersede man’s laws, those who work for the fruits of their labors only to have them taken more and more.”

He concluded by vowing to run as a write-in candidate for U.S. Senate as a member of the Constitution Party.
